Site Criteria:

The Certified Green Housekeeping program will offer single-location, multi-location and national accounts - the first North American standard ever for cleaning and the ability to ensure that all their locations are cleaned to the same specifications. Any location looking to incorporate the Green Housekeeping Program into their daily philosophy, but, are not ready for the commitment needed to include the auditing program, may become a Recognized Green Site and must use only Recognized Green Housekeepers. All locations wanting to introducethe full Green Housekeeping program, including the auditing process, must become a Certified Green Site and use contractors or in-house cleaners that include a Certified Green Housekeeper.

  • Single Occupancy Office Buildings
  • Small Business Retailers

     Building Service Contractor (BSC) Criteria:
Only certified BSC's can clean certified locations and bid on North American, national and regional accounts with a Green Housekeeping program in place.
  1. Management and Supervisory staff must participate in the Green Housekeeping presentation.

  2. Management must make a measurable commitment to the philosophy of Green Housekeeping.

  3. The applicant must be committed to the purchase of Environmentally Preferable Products that meet standards established by EcoLogo or GreenSeal.

  4. The applicant must use biobased cleaning products when available.

  5. All Certified Green Housekeeping Sites must be cleaned by Certified Green Housekeepers.

  6. All Recognized Green Housekeeping Sites must be cleaned by Recognized Green Housekeepers.

  7. Whenever possible the applicant must use only proportion chemicals.

  8. The applicant only damp dusts and does not dry dust.

  9. The applicant must use high efficiency vacuums only (e.g. Sub-micron, C.R.I Green Label rated vacuums, H.E.P.A).

  10. The applicant shall not use aerosols, convenience packaging and must show preference to recyclable packaging. The cleaner must promote recycling in their business and at those they do business with.

  11. The applicant must use minimal amounts of fragrances in products for deodorizing.

  12. The applicant must use low maintenance matting (wiper and scraper) at all entranceways. Floor finish must be free of metals, styrene and flourosurfactants.

  13. The applicant must use low maintenance floor care programming to minimize stripping cycles, with focus on low Volatile Organic Compound (VOC's) practices.

  14. The applicant must maintain all equipment to ensure minimal chemical use, maximum water lift and maximum efficiency.

  15. The application must prevent and control areas of moisture and cross-contamination, and needs to understand moisture management and the elimination of standing water.

  16. The applicant must use a germicide in areas of moisture and cross-contamination and needs to understand moisture management and the elimination of standing water.

  17. The applicant must use near-neutral, biobased, quaternary-based disinfectants of products compliant with #3, within green housekeeping procedures and by specific label instructions.

  18. The application should consult with Certified Green Housekeeping Professional (CGHP), to implement guidelines and practices recommended in the applicable USGBC LEED rating system where possible

  19. The applicant must report repeated sources of moisture to contractee.

  20. The applicant must be dedicated to being a leader in the industry.

  21. The applicant's account must be kept in good standing with Franken LeDrew Consulting.

Loss of Certification Criteria:

The loss of certification to the Building Service Contractor will result from neglecting to adhere to the points listed in the BSC criteria. Furthermore, the BSC will lose certification upon failure to reach at least a Bronze level score (70%) on any Franken LeDrew Audit.

The loss of site certification will result from the use of non "Green Housekeeping" approved products and the continued use of a non-certified BSC.
